As a cowriter, I have collaborated with over 70 emerging and established artists. I am passionate about writing songs that convey an artist's identity and bring their stories to life. Among many others, I’ve written songs with Lisa Canny, Katie Coleman, Nick Wilson, Brooke Law, Sven Ross and Hannah Rose Platt. I work closely with artists to build a positive relationship and, crucially, to create space for them to freely explore their ideas. These artist projects have given me the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse array of writer-producers, such as Ed Harcourt (Jamie Cullum, James Bay), Jodi Marr (MIKA, Paloma Faith), Brad Mair (Romeo Blanco, Kipper Eldridge), Mikko Gordon (Nigel Godrich, Osca, Gaz Coombes) and Toby Scott (Xenomania, Girls Aloud, Kaiser Chiefs). I am always seeking out new opportunities to collaborate with artists and to push the boundaries of my craft.

I have more than a decade of experience as a songwriting tutor and coach, with a primary focus on artist and writer development. I am a senior member of the songwriting faculty at The Institute Of Contemporary Music Performance in London. For the last seven years, I have led the design and delivery of ICMP's masters-level lyric writing tuition. In this role, I have facilitated the development of hundreds of songwriting students, reviewing and discussing thousands of songs, to enable them to shape and refine their lyric writing craft, as well as their relationship to their creativity.  

 

As songwriting programme leader, I led on the design and development of ICMP’s undergraduate songwriting education offer for several years. In recent years, I have worked in a range of institutional leadership roles, culminating in my appointment as the Dean of ICMP. As a member of the senior academic and executive leadership teams, and author of the learning & teaching strategy, I am responsible for the growth and improvement of ICMP's highly practical and entrepreneurial approach to contemporary music education.

 

I have delivered masterclasses at Middlesex University, the BRIT School, HDPK in Berlin, the Vienna Music Institute, Malmö Academy of Music, ATLA Paris, Rock School Singapore and Belmont University in Nashville.

I also have over 15 years of experience as a recording artist. I have worked with writer-producers Joshua Blair (Mark Ronson, Bruno Mars), Sophie Daniels (Joelle Moses, Westlife), Paul Stanborough (Guy Chambers, Cathy Dennis), Bruce Hughes (Jason Mraz) and Igor Haefeli (Daughter) in both the UK and the US.
